This is my entry to the Ancient Robot Challenge hosted by CG Boost. My inspiration came from the mythical story of the ancient giant Greek automaton Talos. I wanted to show a sort of under water archaeological site where the remnants of this giant lay resting in the distressed position of his death. I used Zbrush to block out the basic shapes then on to Maya for most of the retopo and modeling work. Then I used substance painter for the texturing and back to Maya for the final render with Arnold. Finally I took it to Photoshop for some minor tweaking and to add the bubbles.
